  • October 2011 - May 2014. Participated in the research project titled enhancing climate change adaptation and mitigation capacities of vulnerable communities in eco-villages of different ecosystems of the Uluguru Mountains
  • December 2011 to 2014: participated in the research project titled integrated livelihood and natural resource management to adapt dryland communities to climate change in Mwanga district. Tanzania
  • September 2005 – November 2009: PhD research titled Governance of complex social-ecological systems in Tanzania: The case of Lake Jipe wetland. Thesis submitted to Wageningen University in the Netherlands on the 22nd of October 2010. This thesis investigated the interplay among institutions (formal, informal and hybrid) and actors (governmental and community) in the use of natural resources (land, water, forests and fisheries) in agricultural, and livestock production and fisheries management.
  • April 2004 to-2007: Participated in a research project on establishment of the technical prototypes of rural development activities for the integrated land resources management and environmental conservation in the fragile mountain landscape (Uluguru Mountains). The project was sponsored by African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD)
  • June 2002 – April 2004: Community based watershed management in the Matengo Highlands Southern Tanzania. The project was sponsored by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

Provided consultancy services to PWS (Payment for Water Services project) under CARE-Tanzania to devise Soil and Water Conservation Measures and Strategies to be undertaken collaboratively with rural communities for their livelihoods and watershed sustainability in Kibungo Sub-catchment Area (Uluguru Mountains, Morogoro Rural District).

The study on Strengthening Farmers’ Organizations in East Africa. The overall objective of the study was to undertake an inventory of selected apex and formal and informal primary or grassroots farmers’ organizations/associations in countries of the region affiliated to national/apex farmers’ organizations critically examining their relevance.
