Welcome to the Department of Sociology and Anthropology (DSA) in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH)
Welcome to the Department of Sociology and Anthropology (DSA) in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH). The Department which is among the four departments in the CSSH came into operation in July 2021.
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is envisioned to offer programmes in the areas of sociology and anthropology at both undergraduate (BA) and postgraduate (MA and PhD) levels. The degree programmes curricula are developed based on the existing national and global needs. The graduates from these programmes will mainly be employed by the government and civil society organisations (CSOs) as social workers and community development specialists at large. Specifically they can be employed in areas such as Art Galleries, Curators, Publishing Houses, NGOs, Archives, Museums and Libraries, Documentary Film Companies. There are various international organizations like UNICEF, UNESCO, WHO, and UN which hire Anthropology and Sociology graduates. Our courses will be recognised and accredited by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), and this will ensure graduates’ employability in available public spaces.
