Ms. Fatihiya A. Massawe is a Senior Lecturer, Researcher, Consultant and acting head of the Department of Policy, Planning and Management at the Campus College of Social Sciences and Humanities – Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).
She received a BSc Home Economics and Human Nutrition from SUA in 2000 and in 2006 she gained an MSc International Development Studies at Wageningen University– Netherland, majoring in rural development..
She received a Postgraduate Diploma in Poverty Analysis jointly offered by ESRF, REPOA and ISS (Netherland) in 2009. She is currently holding a PhD in rural development from SUA specializing in adoption of energy efficient technologies for household’s welfare in rural areas.
She has worked as a Community Development Officer in the Vice President Office and the Ministry of Community Development Gender and Children for 7 years. She joined SUA as an assistant lecturer in 2007.
She has grown to the level of a senior lecturer teaching courses cutting across areas of Poverty analysis, Conflict Management, Agriculture and Rural development and gender and development. Her interest for research and consultancies include policy analysis, Energy and livelihood, Nutrition & Gender, HIV & Gender. Outside academics she likes to foster for women empowerment through sensitizing young women to take charge of their own life.
She has vast experience in organization and facilitating gender workshops and skills. She is very hard working and result oriented person who is always eager to see tremendous change takes place in her work place and life in general.
She believes in organization transformation.
