Michael Kadigi

Professional biography

Michael L. Kadigi (PhD) is an Agricultural Economist, Lecturer, Research scientist and Consultant for over 10 years. Currently, Michael serves as a Lecturer, Researcher and Consultant in the Department of Policy Planning and Management under the college of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Sokoine University of Agriculture in Morogoro Tanzania. Michael holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics and MSc in Agricultural Economics and a BSc in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Michael has been working as a Lecturer teaching diverse courses cutting across areas of Economics (Microeconomics and Macroeconomics), Impact evaluation, Rural Finance, Statistics, Production economics, Agricultural Marketing, Sustainable Development, Social and public policy Analysis, Research Methodology (Quantitative & Qualitative), Project-Planning-Monitoring and evaluation.

His interest for research and consultancies include Agricultural marketing, Value chain analysis and development, experimental economics (Discrete choice experiments-DCE), Behavioural economics and Consumer preference studies, Econometrics of choice modelling, Agricultural technology innovations, Agricultural Impact evaluation (evaluating the farm-level impacts of agricultural production and policies), Agribusiness and entrepreneurship, Monitoring and evaluation, Risk assessment, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), Policy analysis, Horticulture and livestock economics, Farming systems, Agricultural economics, credit & finance, Agricultural technologies adoption, Natural resources economics, Capacity development, Market linkage and networking, Climate change and sustainability, Climate smart agriculture, Food security and Nutrition, and Livelihoods related studies. He also assesses the implications of policy decisions at the farm level, recognizing the risk embedded in farm management technologies and Simulation for policy decision-making.

Michael is well versed with different analytical packages such as SPSS, STATA, Dedoose, Ms excel, FRONIER, R – programming, GAMS-CGE, and Risk Analysis Tools notably Simetar (FARMSIM). He has application skills of electronic data management platforms/tools include but not limited to ODKs, Survey CTO, and CSPro, Kobo collect.
