SUA academic staff members following attentively PhD seminar presentations held at the SUA, Centre for African and International Languages (SUACAIL) on June 20th, 2023 at the Solomon Mahalangu Mazimbu Campus. The presenters and their titles are as follows:

  2. MR. BASIL BAMUHIGA, “Examining English Language Motivational Pedagogies in Tanzanian Primary Schools: Their Use and Effectiveness”
  1. MS ANNA SHANGWE MBUGHUNI, “Using Open Access Institutional Repository (OAIRs) for Enhancing Access to Local Contents in Tanzanian Universities”

BAZILI E. BAMUHIGA, a PhD student, at the University of Dar Es Salaam, sharing his PhD concept-note on ‘Examining English Language Motivational Pedagogies in Tanzanian Primary schools’

SALUM IDDY, a PhD student, at the University of Dar Es Salaam, sharing his PhD study concept-note on “French Language’s Global hegemony: The vitality prospects of French as a Foreign Language in Multilingual Tanzania”

Ms. Anna Shangwe Mbughuni, a SUA PhD candidate in the final stages of her research project, concluded the seminar series as the last presenter. As she is preparing for her viva voce, she took the opportunity to share her research findings with the Department of Language Studies members and the SUA community.

The seminar series for academic staff included a presentation on the review of the Communication Skills curriculum. The discussion on the review was preceded by a presentation of a report from a team that visited the University of Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam University College of Education, and Ardhi University to benchmark the teaching of Communication Skills in these institutions. These universities are renowned for their commendable practices in teaching communication skills.
