The Centre for Gender Studies (CGS) was established in the prospective College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) following the university wide restructuring processes in 2015.The Centre’s overall aim is to address gender related challenges facing the university and the general public at large.
The Centre conducts gender based research in order to provide evidences to academic members of staff, researchers and policy makers that will help them to engender the planning and delivery of development project, programmes and policies. The Centre envisage to contribute and expand on the efforts done by the Gender Policy Implementation Committee (GPIC) at the university which mainly aims at mainstreaming gender issues at the university operations and ensure the implementation of SUA gender policy.
