Principles of policy formation and implementation. National Forest, beekeeping and wildlife policies of Tanzania. Labour and market policies. Land tenure. Laws governing resource protection and production. Ordinances land use planning. Area allocation. Economics of location. Multiple land use economics. Economics of water and watershed management. Economic consideration of amenities and recreation. Ecotourism. Laws and policies governing wildlife which Tanzania is signatory and relevant to natural resources. Other sectoral policies relevant to conservation – land/land use environmental, forest, beekeeping, agriculture, livestock development, and fisheries. Tanzania laws relevant to conservation. International conventions: treaties and agreements.
Seminars: Will involve presentation of case studies illustrating the process of policy formulation, legislation and law enforcement. Interpretation of international agreements, conventions and protocols.
