Concepts of political economy, theories of state function modes of production and social classes,  the political economy of development, and local level politics, globalization and the changing role of state , International aid   and development, civil society and the development process

Learning Outcomes:
A successful student will be able to:
i.    Understand the concepts of political economy,
i.    describe association between production, distribution and exchange;
ii.    Analyse globalisation and its merits and demerits.
iii.    Apply theories of state functions to analyse role of state and non-state actors in development process
