John. N. Jeckoniah

Professional biography

Prof. John Nshimba Jeckoniah (PhD) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Development and Strategic Studies at SUA he is an academician and a well-seasoned consultant, with local andinternational experiences. Jeckoniah has more than fifteen (15) years of teaching and research experience at Sokoine University of Agriculture. His PhD focused on Value Chain Development and Women Empowerment in Agricultural Value Chains, Has Masters MA-Rural Development and BSc in Home Economics and Human Nutrition. He is a gender expert with hands on experiences teaching, designing and executing rural development and gender related projects and training. He has been involved designing and conduction training in his area of specialization as well as general rural development projects including evaluation and interventions in Agricultural and natural resources related projects, value chain development and analysis, livelihood and gender analysis; design and preparation of the gender policy, strategies and checklists. Being in an academic institution the he has nourished his hands-on experience and exposure on research and consultancy, both from design, implementation and evaluation of different research and development projects and programmes.
