DS 603: Gender and Development


This course begins with an introduction to gender issues and their relations to development, covering both theoretical approaches to gender and applications in planning and in implementation of development projects. It also aims at enabling students to critically analyze different gender theories; origins and development of sexual division of labour and the emergence of changes in gender relations; the education and employment policies of Third World countries in relation to sexual division; feminism and social reform; gender issues in development and gender perspectives in policy and in planning
