Prerequisite: RD 201 Introduction to Gender and Development

Content:
Topical issues in gender, including human sexuality, intra-household resources allocation and decision making, gender-based violence (e.g. wife battery, FGM, early forced marriage, street children, sexual harassment); women empowerment; Women’s contribution to economic development through informal and formal sectors, and farming activities; Feminisation of poverty; women’s involvement in domestic activities including food prossessing and cooking, water supply, fuel wood and energy supply, and caring for children; Gender and Globalization; Communicating gender; Gender Analysis Frameworks (GAF); Research methodologies in gender issues; PRA and planning tools applied to gender; Project planning with a gender perspective; Assessment of women’s development in projects; Analysis of success and failure of engendered initiatives.
