Prof. Jonathan Stephen Mbwambo is an Associate Professor at the College of Social Sciences and Humanities of Sokoine University of Agriculture. Prof. Mbwambo worked at the Inter-University Council for East Africa as a Regional
Coordinator for the World Bank-funded East and Southern Africa Higher Education Centers of Excellence Project.During his tenure as a Regional Project Coordinator, Prof. Mbwambo was responsible for coordinating and facilitating
24 centers of excellence established in selected Universities in the Republics of Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Before joining the project, Prof. Mbwambo worked as an Assistant Director and a National Coordinator for the Education and Skills for Productive Jobs Project at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the United Republic of Tanzania. Prof. Mbwambo started his career at Sokoine University of Agriculture where he was promoted from an Assistant lecturer to an Associate Professor. As an academic, Prof. Mbwambo has a Master of Science
degree in Natural Resources Management and a PhD in Rural Development. Prof. Mbwambo has supervised more than 25 Masters and PhD students in areas related to poverty, climate change, food security and Agro-biodiversity.
