CELEBRATING WORLD WORKERS’ DAY 1ST MAY 2019
Outstanding and Best Workers from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH)
The college of Social science and humanities succeeded to have one of its staff nominated as an outstanding worker during the 2019 world workers’ day. Dr. Fatihiya Ally Massawe, the head, Department of Policy, Planning and Management was nominated an outstanding worker after she had won a Martha Farrell Memorial Fellowship 2018-19. The fellowship has been instituted by Martha Farrell Foundation, New Delhi in collaboration with Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). The fellowship offers training and support to enable Dr. Fatihiya to institute an effective ant-sexual harassment initiative at her workplace.
Also, during the implementation of the award, Dr. Massawe in collaboration with the Association of Commonwealth Universities succeeded to bring an expert from the Martha Farrell foundation to conduct Training of Trainers (TOT) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Morogoro, Tanzania. The expert trained the University committee dealing with the implementation of the University gender policy and representatives from different departments in the University. The training aimed at formulating a team of experts with general understanding and strategies on the prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace. The expert’s cost was covered by the Association of commonwealth Universities.
