On 2/7/2020 during farmers’ field day that was conducted at Mlali Primary School, the Vice Chancellor of Sokoine University of Agriculture promised that the University would support ongoing Government efforts to construct classrooms for Mlali and Mkuyuni Primary Schools by providing 100 bags of cement. On 13/8/2020, the VC fulfilled his promise whereby he availed 100 bags of cement and a water pump worth 1,500,000 Tshs and 480,000 Tshs respectively to Mlali Primary School and Tukaleghoya group. 80 participants witnessing the handing over event came from Mlali and Mkuyuni villages, Sokoine University of Agriculture, Research Community and Organizational Development Associates (RECODA) and Mvomero District Council. According to the VC, the donation was part of the SUA’s efforts to promote education and agriculture in Tanzania in support of the fifth Government’s President, Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli. Addressing the audience, the Principal of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Samwel J. Kabote, said: “Prof. Raphael Chibunda, the Vice Chancellor of Sokoine University of Agriculture, is here to fulfil the promise he made to you on the second July when he toured two of the 22 demonstration plots which have been facilitated by SUA and RECODA as part of the obligations of the existing MoU between the two organizations”.
